Life is difficult! We go through trials, hardships, pain, loss, disappointments, deaths, and many other challenges in life. Many of us learn that we need to be "strong," when it comes to life's challenges, and we understandably interpret "strength" as burying our emotions. One of my favorite quotes from "Man's Search For Meaning" is the importance of being "Worthy of your suffering." I suppose this could be interpreted in many ways, however, to me, being a "worthy opponent," means that you are no slouch. You are ready and willing to face the difficulty even when it really sucks. You face it instead of run away from it. This means facing the pain, wrestling with it, and allowing yourself to feel all of the pain. When we do we can find strength and meaning in our suffering. It's through facing our difficulties and experiencing our feelings that true healing occurs.
